What to Expect at the Georgia Strawberry Festival in Reynolds

One of our favorite things to do on weekends throughout the year is hit some of the local festivals within an hour or two of home. And one of our regular stops in late April is the Georgia Strawberry Festival in Reynolds.

I think one of the reasons we’re so fond of it, is because it reminds us a lot of the annual Spring Festival held in our hometown of Mt. Washington, Kentucky. Like our hometown, Reynolds is a small community, but they go all out to provide a day full of fun and activities for all ages.

What to Expect

The Georgia Strawberry Festival always falls on the fourth Saturday in April. For 2024, that’s April 27.

The festivities kick off with a parade that feels like it’s straight out of a Norman Rockwell painting. Local bands, high school floats, antique tractors, emergency vehicles, and community groups participate, creating a festive atmosphere that sets the tone for the entire day.

Following the parade, we typically walk the shop-lined streets checking out the wide assortment of vendors. You’ll find everything from arts and crafts, homemade jams and jellies, clothing, and my personal favorite, food trucks! And of course, you can’t go to a Strawberry Festival without picking up some fresh strawberries!

Several streets in Reynolds are lined with vendors selling a variety of assorted goods and foods.

For families and kids, the festival is a treasure trove of activities. There are face painting booths, pony rides, a petting zoo, as well as an area with several carnival-type rides.

There’s a small antique tractor and car show that I always enjoy checking out. I only wish it was a little bigger part of the festival.

In addition to the parade and vendors, the day includes a 5K race, a weenie dog race, fire truck pull, live music, and a strawberry pie eating contest.

Planning Your Visit

If you’re thinking of attending, I suggest arriving early to beat the crowds and secure good parking. Many visitors come from surrounding areas, so the town does get quite busy.

Admission to the festivities is free, but you’ll definitely want to bring some spending money for food and other goodies.

As Tina and I look forward to next year’s festival, we’re reminded of the simple pleasures that come from community gatherings and the timeless appeal of celebrating local produce. The Reynolds Strawberry Festival is more than just an event; it’s a yearly highlight that continues to draw us back.

Whether you’re a returning visitor or a curious newcomer, the festival awaits to offer you its sweetest charms.
